Chess Ideas, based in Melbourne, is Australia's first chess coaching company, providing chess to schools since 1994. Chess is all about deduction, reasoning, strategic analysis, concentration, spatial awareness, logic, social interaction and so much more. But most of all, it's fun!
Chess Programs In Schools
Our teaching format is flexible and tailored to suit a school’s requirements. Schools can recover costs by charging students approximately $9.00/hr. 10 students are required to cover the cost, and any excess is kept by the school.
Chess Clubs - all ages, all levels: ($90.00/hour +GST)
- Before school
- Lunch time

In School Teaching: ($90.00/ per hour +GST)
- Introducing chess to a particular grade level.
- Enrichment and extension programs
- Chess team coaching
- Coaching of parents
Small School Programs:
Chess Ideas understands that small schools often struggle to provide a self funding chess club for their students. Ask us about the options available for running a chess program at your school at reasonable cost.
In House Tournaments:
If you’re a school that provides your own chess tuition, we’re happy to run a tournament for your students, with Swiss Perfect pairing and chess clocks just like the professional players. It’s the icing on the cake for many keen chess students.
Whole Day/half day fun programs:
- Introducing chess to the students.
- A simultaneous exhibition, (10 – 15 games played at once), by one of our many chess masters.
- Variant chess games.
- Chess puzzles.
- ‘Quick’ tournament with medals and trophies.
- A fun and exciting day.
The GST is claimable. Occasionally, if more than 45 minutes traveling is needed an extra charge may apply for 1 hour classes.
