Teaching Staff
Chess Ideas was founded by International Master Michael Gluzman and Ross Neumann in 1994 and was the first chess coaching company established in Australia.
Our current coaching staff is lead by International Grandmaster Darryl Johansen, who has amassed many titles over an impressive career. He has been the Victorian Champion 10 times, the Australian Champion 5 times and has been in the Australian Olympic team for over 28 years. He now balances competitive play with his many teaching commitments, but still occasionally finds time to compete and win tournaments. His most recent victory was in September 2007 in Nelson, New Zealand.

As well as Darryl, the staff of Chess Ideas includes an international master, many experts and a number of chess players well known in the Victorian Chess Community, many of whom have a rating over the magical 2000, all of them committed to the game and the benefits it brings to students.
Our staff of over 20 teachers, are either VIT registered or have a current WWC card, and many of them have been part of Chess Ideas since its inception.
